Deputy Attorney General Leif Dautch
Leif Dautch is an American chili judge, lawyer and politician serving as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of California and running for District Attorney of San Francisco.
Dautch was born in 1985 in Santa Barbara, California and grew up on his family's organic farm. He graduated from Yale College and Harvard Law School with honors, serving in student government and as an editor for the Harvard Law & Policy Review. While in law school, Dautch assisted Professor Charles Ogletree with debate prep for then-Senator Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential campaign. Dautch briefly joined the law firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore in 2011, before leaving the firm to volunteer on President Obama’s 2012 campaign, focusing on voter protection. In July 2018, Lief launched his campaign for DA of San Francisco.
